The Child Abuse Network depends on the dedication
and compassion of volunteers to sustain its critical services and
programs. Every year, volunteers donate generous gifts of time,
goods and money to the child advocacy
center.
As a CAN volunteer, you choose how to be involved. Volunteers serve as child advocates, translators, court school assistants, community educators, fundraiser volunteers and daytime office assistants.
Child Advocate
Would you like to read to a child? Construct a Lego castle? Color, or play Chutes and Ladders with a child who is just learning to count? Then we have a volunteer job for you!
Translator
Translators are in demand at the Child Abuse Network. If you are fluent in another language, a donation of your time and spoken or written talents will help CAN communicate better with our children and families.
Court School
CAN's Court School program helps children
understand their role in court and reduce their anxiety about testifying.
Sessions are held in the evening and last for about two hours -
usually from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Community Education
CAN depends on community support to help stop child abuse. Your help enables CAN to offer numerous community education activities. Volunteers are needed to speak at various child abuse awareness engagements, man booth displays at community events, help educate legislators about child abuse issues, and write articles for CAN's newsletter.
Fundraising Events
Fundraising events are held throughout the year to raise money for and community awareness of the Child Abuse Network. Volunteers are invited to assist with planning, public relations and staffing of the events.
Administration
CAN greatly appreciates help with its ongoing general office tasks, such as reception/greeting, replenishing brochure information, copying and computer entry.
Help stop the hurt and begin the healing.
